HISTORY OF MOSAIC LAMP

Mankind saw during art history that functional and effective picture surfaces would form as colorful stones came side by side and they used them. In due course technic developed and the most beautiful mosaic boards of the world took the prominent place in Rome and Constantinople art. Pompeii mosaics in Italy gave their masterpieces in Chora, Hagia Sophia and Anatolian cities and temples in Istanbul.

                                                                                                                          
Painting with mosaic technic has a feature like standing the test of time and overrunning the time. When this technic is used inside and outside of architecture, in some ways it reaches the eternity. Like mosaic boards making feel us texture and life of Anatolian ancient age cities in Antakya mosaic museum and recently in Zeugma.

As of 1950’s in Turkey the artist who has created the most magnificent samples of mosaic picture is Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. Also it is necessity to mention large scale boards of Ferruh Başağa, Devrim Erbil and Turan Erol.

After 1970’s, mosaic art started to be forgotten because of choosing ceramic effect. However mosaic art had developed in Anatolian and its history was laid 6000 years ago.
